Advertisement of WBCS(Executive) ETC. EXAMINATION, 2001 has been published by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal on 21/08/2010 on leading newspapers.
Brief Information:

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A Degree of Rrecognised University
2. Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali ( not required for recruitment in the case of Nepali speaking candidates from hill areas of Darjeeling).
AGE:
1. On First January, 2011-for candidates competing for Group(s) A, C and D- not below 21 years but not more than 32 years that is born not earlier than 02/01/1979 and not later than 01/01/1990.
2. For Group B- not below 20 years and not more than 32 years that is born not earlier than 02/01/1979 and not later than 01/01/1991.
3. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and by 3 years for BC candidates of West Bengal and upto 45 years of age for persons with disabilities having Physical Disability of 40% and above.
4. SC/ST/BC candidates not belonging to the state of West Bengal shall be trated as General Candidates.
The Preliminary Examination will be held at various centres in West Bengal in January, 2011 or thereabout.
The Main Examination will be held in Kolkata only in June, 2011 or thereabout.

rahul said...: It wont help much to speculate the exact date of mains..so we have to wait untill it is officially announced..but it's better to presume the earliest date and prepare accordingly.
for the admit card,its their responsibility..you dont have to worry about that..they will post it on the site at least 10 days before the commencement of mains..you can download it.

Rahul said...: Gr A and gr B both results will be declared simultaneously in all likelihood..it should be at least two months or more from the date of last interview..so my earliest guess is April last week.

It is a very hard time to keep patience.

Rahul said...: dear friend you have nothing to worry about..here is how it goes..
on the basis of mains, first a merit is prepared ( as this time it was 464 candidates)..then on the basis of service preferences and the opinion of interview panel they call again few candidates who they deem probably suitable for group B (as this time 115 candidates).all these are essentially out of those already interviewed..these will be candidates who have mentioned their first choice as police services or those who in the view of the panel are exceptionally suitable for police services. after the second round is over, both the lists will be out simultaneously..most likely in between may last week to mid june.

Bishakha said...: Rahul...I have given WBCS Mains 2012 and expect marks around 490.I don't know whether I shall get call for Grade A or not?But I would like to prepare myself for the interview.Even if I don't get chance in WBCS 2012 I hope the preparation will help me in WBCS 2013. Now my question is how to prepare myself for the interview?Does it need professional guidance or mock interview or something like these or I can prepare myself alone.
I studied prelims and mains by myself and did not face any difficulty.
I will be benefited if you kindly throw light in this regard.

Rahul said...: Dear Bishakha, if you score around 490,in all probability you will get a call for group A provided you are sure about your score. i have never took any coaching for anything so i'd say you can very well prepare on your own and you have already done that halfway through..on how to prepare, you need two things..first an interviewer's mindset (what would you look for in a candidate/ask if you are to select civil servants)and second a critic's view/counter argument on your every answer and body gestures. read any book first for basic interview manners and dressing sense. then dig deep into constitution to inculcate a deep understanding of core values that are guiding our country..take contemporary problems one by one and analyse them with great sincerity..like why did this happen?what can be done? etc etc.work to know your own faith and beliefs so that there is no contradiction within yourself and your thoughts because if there is,you will surely be caught speechless in the interview. Identify state's major challenges and possible approach to deal with them.start questioning things and then strive to find answers and possibility of implementation in given constraints.; April 17, 2013 at 7:21 PM

Anonymous said...: Few days back, in Anandabazar, a news got published. It says, now UPSC is going to conduct exams for the state civil servants who are eligible to be promoted as IAS officers. The elligibility was 1) 8 years of continuous service 2) Age < 54 years. There will be two papers. The marks will be distributed like this - 40(written),15(interview),25(performance report), 20(seniority). Do you have any idea on the veracity of the news? I could not find anything similar to any other newspaper on in the internet so far. and download the calendar,you can see that the A.T.I(administrative training centre,salt lake) has scheduled the professional traning of new WBCS officers from June 3,2013.
But as PSC has not declared the result,the training has to be delayed.
