No WBCS probationer shall be confirmed until he has passed completely the Departmental Examination prescribed for him and the WBCS probationer or WBCS officer will not get any increment in his pay. The WBCS officer will get only two increments untill he cleared his departmental examination. It is advisable for a WBCS probationer to clear all papers of the departmental examination before completion of probation period. Departmental Examinations are conducted for WBCS Officers including All India Service Officers serving under West Bengal Government in May and November every year by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal. The WBCS Officer will apply to the PSC through proper channel before the prescribed date in prescribed format. The above examination will be held in the Examination Halls of the Commission at 161A, S.P. Mukherjee Road, Kolkata-700026. The lists of Officers admitted as also the programme of examination have since been sent to the concerned Departments / Directorates for information of the Officers. Officer may contact their respective Departments / Directorates in this regard. No admission certificate will be issued to the eligible Officers from the office of the Commission. Identity Card and also the Letter of Identification (as per proforma sent to the Departments/Directorates by the Commission) will have to be produced by the candidates at the examination centre.
